The Redesign of Braeburn Thermostat

Picture1.png

Project Description

Braeburn Thermostat is an Old-Fashioned control. With excessive number of buttons, unclear labels and misleading interactions. For this project I added a modern screen, redesign its control layout and add a more intuitive UI.

Skills Involved

This state diagram reflects an important interaction issue.

Regardless of the chosen mode (Heat, Cool, Emergency), the user can select any desired temperature. For instance, when the Heat mode is selected, the user can still turn down the temperature to 45 F, which is only reachable in the cool mode.

There is no feedback that tells the user that the temperature will not go down. The selected temperature will remain in the screen, but the cooler will not work, unless the user selects the Cool mode.
